Relocation:
Our
relocation program is designed to return historic homes once slated
for demolition into affordable housing for Houston. Through collaboration
with neighborhood associations, community and faith-based organizations,
city housing departments and private individuals this program offers
an economically sound solution for preserving these homes and a wonderful
tool for neighborhood revitalization and community development. For more information about donations to our Relocation program please

Salvage:
Only
in cases where relocation of the house is not feasible will Historic
Houston consider salvage of the historic building materials for our
Salvage Program. With an estimated 75 TONS of building materials going
into landfills as result of demolition each year, Historic Houston is
committed to salvaging and recycling historic building materials as
an economical and environmentally sound alternative for restoring older
houses while protecting the environment.
Our warehouse customers consist
of individuals as well as restoration professionals. For more information

Building materials to be salvaged include:
Historic wood windows and screens, Interior/ Exterior doors
and hardware, Interior/Exterior wall siding and trim, Wood floors Floor
joists, Roof Rafters, Historic bath and kitchen fixtures, Cabinets, Architectural
detail elements, Collectibles, and Furniture.
Landmark Plaque:
To increase public recognition for historic preservation Historic Houston,
is providing on behalf of the Planning and Development Department, City
of Houston, a medallion plaque for City of Houston designated historic
landmark buildings. This custom designed cast aluminum oval medallion
plaque measures 9” x 6” tall with black background and raised
gold leaf brushed lettering.
