"Builder, developer and civic visionary William A. Wilson moved to Houston in the 1890's. His timing proved pivotal in the establishment of some of Houston's finest neighborhoods, most notably in the Houston Heights, Woodland Heights and Eastwood. Building Bungalow and Prairie Style homes and planting trees along neighborhood streets became his forte....The year 1910 was personally significant for him for another reason: That's when he completed his magnificent home on Bayland Avenue, the premiere corridor of the Woodland Heights.... Wanting an oversized lot, Bill Baldwin and Joe Gonzales purchased the 16,250-square-foot tract and began planning their dream home."
